Operation Christmas Child

On the website www.samaritans-purse.org.uk there is a simple quote that explains Operation Christmas Child . (Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox Appeal)

“ The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, aShoeBox 2012nd together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.”

At our service on Sunday 16th November 2014 the family of bank top URC showed how willing they are to share God’s love with children of the world that they may never see. A simple gift sent in Faith to reach out to the children that have so little while we have more than enough.

118 lives will be reached by the generosity of spirit shown from our small community. It is wonderous that no matter how often we receive the call to help others it is met with such overwhelming enthusiasm.

Another small victory for us all as we send our message of God’s love around the world.

I was drawn to the  number of shoeboxes we managed to gather together and the 1st verse of Psalm 118 ( A Prayer of ThaShoeBox 2012nks for Victory) “ Give thanks to the Lord because he is good, and his love is eternal”.
It was great to see how many of our own children were involved, children from Sunday school, from the Rainbows, Brownies and Guides.

I think we all deserve to give ourselves a pat on the back while sending our love and prayers with our shoeboxes.

I also think we should say a big thank you to all the organisers and distributors as well as the Bank Top Strolling Players for their entertaining message that we can all play our part in molding the future with the little acts of love and kindness we give to others. One Life at a Time.
